Our Future

At Central, our mission is to make followers of Jesus by being followers of Jesus. All we do is measured according to whether it fits into this mission. Jesus, discipleship and mission are the key parts to this mission. Our plan isn’t to have a mission of community, but to be a community of people on mission for Jesus. In 2010, we adopted a pathway for discipleship that helps us see what being part of this mission looks like.

That pathway is Connect, Grow, Serve. If this is happening, we would look like the original Church of Jesus as described in the book of Acts (Acts 2:42-47):

• There would be people in community like no other earthly community because it is God’s people living changed lives by the power of the Holy Spirit.
• There would be people in Christ, together growing more in love with Jesus every day.
• There would be people on mission, together taking the light of Jesus and let it pierce the darkness of the world.

Right Now

Right now that means we are raising up, sending out and supporting people doing works of mission here and overseas, such as school chaplains, YoungLife leaders, welfare ministry through Ipswich Assist, supporting Sudanese people as they settle in Ipswich, aged care chaplains, overseas missionaries, short term missions and more. All this happens because Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6) for all people.
