Bible Reading Plan

52 weeks. 2 years.

psalms - proverbs - new testament

About this plan

This bible reading plan is ruthlessly slow paced.
Two readings.  Each week.  That’s it.
It’s nice to read the whole bible in a year, but bible-in-a-year plans cover up to four chapters per day.  Miss a day or two, and it quickly starts feeling like a duty, and can easily turn into a box ticking exercise.  This plan isn’t that.  It’s designed so you can engage with God thoughtfully, carefully and in and unhurried way as you think, meditate, reflect and even memorise what you’re reading.  Each week contains a Psalm or a chapter of Proverbs, and a New Testament reading.  That’s it.  Over two years, you’ll cover the Psalms, Proverbs and the New Testament.

Over to you.  Get stuck in to it!

Tips for using this plan

Tech tips

  •  Shortcut the page to your device, then it’s simply one click – and you’re there.

  • On a desktop device, hovering over the bible reference will open a pop up window, clicking the link (or the bible reference at the top of the pop up window) will open up a full screen window for easier reading.

  • For a full screen option on a mobile device, after hovering, select the reference at the top of the pop up window, or long press the reference and select preview page or open in a new tab.

Making the most of the plan

  •  Make it a habit – It’s always good to get habitual with bible reading.  So do it when you get up, with your coffee, or on your bus or train trip, or  at lunch.

  • Why not use the bible reading plan when you’re meeting up with another Christian to read the bible?

  • Not sure how to do family devotions?  Try this – read a portion of the weekly reading together.  Here’s some helpful questions you can use if you want to follow up with a short discussion:

a.       What’s it saying?
b.       What’s challenging or something you’re not sure about?
c.       What’s the take away?  (ie how does the passage challenge your thinking / desires / actions?)
