Our Values
Our values set the tone of church life. They are guiding principles that we believe are both biblical and prudent as we seek to minister to our people and our community:
We value God's Word as the ultimate authority in life. (Matthew 4: 4)
We value the Gospel of grace as the foundation, formation and motivation of Christian life (Ephesians 2: 8-9; Colossians 2: 6-7).
We value a style of ministry that is Christ-centred, culturally appropriate, and which is not afraid of change, while never changing the Gospel message (1Corinthians 9: 19-23; Acts 17: 22-34; Galations 1: 6-9).
We value prayer as an integral and essential part of Christian life in which we recognise our inability and God's ability (Philippians 4: 6).
We value all people, and aim to introduce those outside the community of faith to the person and claims of Jesus (Luke 19: 10; Galatians 3: 28).
We value the unity of believers, and grace as the means of relating (Ephesians 4: 1-4).
We value a 'fellow workers' model of ministry (Romans 6: 13) in which people are empowered to minister to others in a style and occasion that suits them.
We value the spiritual gifts God has given each one and their use in his kingdom's work (1Corinthians 12: 12-31).
We value leadership development that is intentional and cyclical (2Timothy 2: 2).
We value striving for excellence knowing that giving our best honours God and inspires people (Romans 8: 32; Colossians 3: 23).
We value strategic risk-taking knowing that faith means being pushed outside of our abilities and into the hands of God (Hebrews 11: 1-40).
We value a kingdom focus (not empire building) in which we work together with other believers for the greater good of God's work (1Corinthians 10: 33). |
